Though the first pair was impossibly small and short, when I sized up, the fit is perfect and very comfortable. I love the wide toe box and the fact that they are genuinely waterproof. I have tried zero drop wide toe shoes but they seem to hurt my knees. These are stable and sure footed.

I’ve been really impressed with this shoe so far. The waterproof upper keeps your feet warm and dry in sloppy conditions and the PerFOAMance midsole is plush while maintaining control underfoot and doesn’t stiffen in the cold. The toe box is wider than the Maxx 2 but also seems to run a bit shorter, possibly due to the extra padding in the upper so it runs true to size especially if you’re wearing your winter socks! Shoe is comfy right out of the box and the grip is the standard VJ excellence. Really enjoying the shoe this winter!

For a shoe that is meant to be one of their bulkier models it surprisingly light and quick. I had no issues running an uptempo run as the foam provided great energy return. As with all of their shoes you can always trust that you will get good traction but this shoe also felt great on more rugged terrain with there being more to it than some of its lighter counterparts.

What more is there to say about these? There was a time when I only bought Hoka, because noone else was using Vibram outsole. Then, I discovered VJ. Even if I'm practically sideways, they still grip. The waterproofing on this is excellent, lockdown is great, and the toebox is snug but not painful at all on my wider forefoot. I cannot find a single thing wrong with these XTER.
