    • The all new SpeedHiker - a fusion of a trail running and a hiking shoe. Bringing together the comfort and speed of a trail running shoe with the protection and stability of a hiking boot, the SpeedHiker is made for the trails. No matter how fast or slow you go, the Speed Hiker is there to support you.

The Speedhiker is in its element both on day hikes in the forest as well as speedier treks in more demanding conditions. Due to the Speedhiker’s design and the sole’s rock plate, the shoe offers stability and protection and can also handle longer distances in rocky and more technical terrain.

The VJ Speedhiker is based on the VJ Ultra 2’s foot shape and sole, which means along with the best grip on the planet, you will find the familiar cushioning, responsiveness and the roomy toebox. The Speedhiker features aggressive 4mm lugs on the outsole, designed to grip in all conditions.

To increase comfort and combat the strain on the feet, we’ve built this shoe to be extremely light. The back of the shoe has been lowered, which allows your ankle to move freely and make those sharp twists and turns in the alternating terrain.

The lowered backside also amplifies the “sport shoe feel”, so the only thing standing between you and speedy treks is yourself! The shoe’s durable ripstop upper is made from 100% recycled material. Beneath the upper is our own dynamic Performadry waterproof membrane that ensures your feet to stay dry and comfortable.

    Really Is The Best Tread

Today I tested my boots on a wet slippery rock hike. I had done this hike before with different boots and had to be super careful. This time I got a bit cocky since the tread was so much better causing two minor slips but what an incredible difference. I passed many people having a tough time and told them all to get VJ boots. I am really happy with these boots and hope VJ makes some insulated boots soon.

    Great Waterproof and Comfy Hiker!

I'm new into Adventure Racing, Obstacle Course Racing and Triathlons with a trail run. I did a lot of searching for a waterproof, comfy hiking shoe that is waterproof and has a grippy sole when wet. Upon receiving my shoes, I decided to put them to the test. First hike was in a torrential downpour. I wasn't wearing gaitors, so my pant legs were totally saturated. Returning home, I found my socks were wet! Hmmm, I thought they were supposed to be waterproof? Overnight, I dried the shoes, and next day, headed back out into the wet Green Mountains of Vermont. I stopped at a moving brook to put the shoes into the brook, up to about an inch from the upper top, and stood there for 3-4 minutes (See pic). End result is, dry feet. Prior day wet socks was caused by water saturation of my clothing and rain running into my shoes. I recommend these shoes!

    The best of both worlds!

The SpeedHiker is amazing…It’s the shoe I can wear for a trail run then meet up with some friends to go for a hike! Being waterproof I don’t have to worry about getting my feet wet on any water crossings and love, love, love the lowered back side that gives my ankles flexible movement on technical trails. Just like all the other VJ shoes, they have #thebestgripontheplanet!! If you’re a trail runner who also loves to hike look no further!!!

Light hiker, no break in, toe box just right, good grip. Well designed and likely as durable as my other VJs. I like the lowered heel, gives me the feel of a sneaker but I still have ankle protection. I can’t yet talk about how they are when it gets really hot.
One thing that I don’t like is that they are not really waterproof, a few minutes walking through wet grass and I feel some moisture, and that is from day one. It doesn’t get really soaking wet inside but noticeable enough that I have to change socks after my walk.
I give it still 5 stars because I can put these on and forget about it, they feel so natural…
