Ice Hero - Women's

Best For....

Designed in Finland - home of winter running, snow and reindeer. Ice Hero is a lightweight and well cushioned winter running shoe.

The water repellent upper is a weave of aramid fiber and nylon (familiar if you run in the MAXx!), giving extra durability and comfort.  The best grip on the snowy and icy planet is provided by a Superior Contact outsole featuring 18 carbon steel star-shaped studs.

The Ice Hero was developed to improve on the popular Xero 5 winter running shoe.  With more cushioning, this shoe is still lighter than its predecessor.

Ice Hero provides a great touch on the ground and works well for anything from winter jogging to aggressive, technical running or racing!

Features:

A must for winter running!

I live in New Hampshire, where icy conditions are pretty constant through the winter (and spring!). My Ice Hero shoes allow me to carry on and complete workouts as close to normal as possible no matter the conditions. I wouldn't go through winter without them!

Magic shoes

These are amazing in the snow! Grips perfectly on mtn runs with snow conditions and a little bit of ice. Would definitely recommend for anyone who lives in winter conditions

Great for North Dakota winter walking

While I have dreams of being a runner, the reality is that I'm more suited for walking. My husband runs in a pair of last year's Zero shoes and loves them, so he talked me into trying this year's Hero. I've walked in these things through snow and over ice, in temps below zero degrees, and my feet actually stay fairly warm. I also do not slip as much as I sometimes do with other traction aids. Because the cleats are evenly distributed across the sole, they are more comfortable than pull-on ice cleats. Plus, these shoes are lighter weight than my winter boots. I wear between an 8 and 8.5 size shoe (USA) and went with an 8.5. That makes them roomy enough for thicker socks. They are worth the price. VJ Shoes ships them out quickly, too, so you won't have to wait long to receive them.

So Long YakTrax

Finland seems to know something we don't -- how to make a great winter trail running shoe! Loved the Vj Ice Hero studded trail shoe. Living in central NY, winter brings us a lot of snow and a mixed bag of frozen precipitation (about the same as Finland, right?). I ran on frozen winter trails today in 14 degrees and these shoes are rock solid! So long Yaktrax! Glad to find Vj at The Running Event in Austin, TX!
